“Fight with Fate”

Written for my drawing.

Under the feet of unemployment
tied by the chains of poverty,
he was forced to work
in his own city,
Crushed by the fate’s wind
His free sky came to limits,
His legs was bound
and his wings lost its width,

Day after day
under the hot sun,
He worked hard
but was paid none,
Such a hard job
to play with clay and wheel,
He made pots and lamps
but found no great deal,

He had no home
to rest his limbs,
and only that work
was left for him,
His neighbours who were with him
in his good days,
have turned their faces
and changed their ways,

But how he could
give up in such a plight,
He forgot everything
and took a high flight,
The rays of hopes
remained within his heart,
and he fought again
with his hidden art,

And a day came
when his bad time turned,
with money and good respect
which he earned,
People were amazed
to see his position then,
And he respected his work
which made him succeed when.

Would that you’ve enjoyed reading this poem……comments please 🙂 .

  1. nice…i like the story telling and the morale of this as well….that if you really love something and work at it…even though some may talk and turn away, that hopefully your break will come…and look at you then…smiles…

  2. Shifting fate – I think all of us experience each of the emotions you express. Perseverance is the key as well as believing in yourself! Best to you NJ.

  3. nice..i like that things turned in the end…that he had the power to fight and the hope remained in his heart even in difficult times..

Loving the message here- keep going- perserverenace- work hard- and you’ll get to where you want to be in this life….real positive poem- and a message I should tell myself more often!!

  5. you are successful in so many ways when you respect yourself. respecting what you do, your work, is a big part of it.

I’ve nominated your blog for the Reader Appreciation Award http://decumminspoetry.wordpress.com/2012/06/10/reader-appreciation-award/

  7. An uncomfortable and honest look into a life of poverty. I got the impression that he always had a plan, a hope, and was just waiting and watching for the moment, to take his high flight. Great poem! Peace! ~Beth
